Entry Procedure
Pre-Prep
For entry to reception, places are allocated on a ‘first come first served’ basis. When all places are taken, a waiting list is formed. In both reception and year 1 there is one class of 18 pupils. In year 2, ten additional places become available as there are two classes of 14 pupils. The offer of places for pupils joining the school in years 1-3 are subject to a positive recommendation from a school known to Witham.
Prep
Year groups in the Prep school total 32 (two classes of 16). Children from the Pre-Prep will normally automatically pass in to the Prep department. If the academic rigours of the Prep department seem unsuited to the child, the parent will be informed well in advance. This is not a common occurrence. The preferred age of entry to the Prep department is when a child is 8, although later entries can always be considered. New pupils to the school take a standardised entry test.
Procedure
To request further details on the School, receive a prospectus, or to book a visit to look round the School and meet the Headmaster please contact Mrs Claire Paylor, the School Secretary, on 01778 590222, or email secretary@withamhall.com
All pupils should be registered for entry to the School through the completion of a formal registration form. At this stage we also ask for payment of a £100 registration fee.
During the Winter Term of the academic year prior to entry parents are asked to complete an Acceptance Form to accept the offer of a place for their child based on the terms and conditions within it. At this point we ask for a deposit of £500 to secure the place. This is then credited against the last account payable, with any surplus refunded. |
