Witham Hall Hosts 'Come and Sing' Event

On Wednesday afternoon more than 80 Year 3 and 4 singers from local schools met in the Stimson Hall for the annual 'Come and Sing' event organised by Stamford Music Teachers' Forum and hosted by Witham Hall. Schools attending included Stamford Junior, The Bythams, Marcolm Sargent, Uffington, Copthill and St Gilbert's. The afternoon started with energetic warm ups and action games (including Nanuma, Dr Knickerbocker and Not Last Night But The Night Before) and then the children worked in separate groups in three venues to create an original soundscape and learn a songs about Deserts, Volcanoes or Rainforest to go with them. After a break for a drink and snack, the children all met in the Hall once more to learn a fantastic Gospel Medley using the songs Swing Low, O When the Saints and I'm Gonna Sing separately, and then all at the same time! Parents enjoyed listening to an informal sharing session at the close of the afternoon. Y3 children from Witham's Pre-Prep Choir joined in enthusiastically, made new friends and great fun was had by all.
