Superb afternoon for Witham teams!

Witham girls’ teams had a tremendous afternoon yesterday with 6 wins and one draw. The U9s played in their first matches: the U9A won 5-0 against St Mary’s with super passing displayed from defence to attack and good captaincy throughout from Sophia Gregory. The U9B team drew 2-2: they had a solid and competitive game. Congratulations to Felicity Bridges Webb and Catherine Swanston, from Year 3, who joined this team and played tremendously well.
The U11As made a strong start to their season against St Mary’s with an 18 – 2 win. Well timed moves and accurate passes enabled the girls to link the ball up to the shooters. The centre pass routines worked well and the defence marked tightly giving St Mary’s few opportunities to shoot. A very promising start, well done girls!

The U11B team played pretty well for a first match of the season and had most of the possession but were unable to score as often as they should: however, they came out winners 4-1.

The U13 netball teams all had strong wins against Oundle’s year 7s. Rose Cavell-Taylor was particularly strong in the U13A team. The U13B team had a decisive win in a game played in good spirit and with excellent shooting from Jess Hay. The U13C Team worked well together after a slightly shaky start and won 10-0. Charlotte Neve, in particular, played very well winning several toss ups and making some good interceptions.

Witham boys!

A hat-trick from Captain Charlie Forecast helped the Colts A to a comprehensive 5-0 victory at Stoneygate.  The team produced an assured performance to achieve a super result.  After the match, the Stoneygate coach said: “That was one of the best Witham teams I have seen” – very well played indeed boys!

The Colts B played against St Mary’s Colts A and won 1-0 in a very evenly matched game. Small pitches meant defence had to be sharp and the team did well capitalising on one of only two scoring opportunities.

The Colts D team played their first fixture vs St Mary's Colts B team. Although conceding a goal in the first half, the boys pressed hard all game and were unfortunate to come away losers by that solitary goal. Max Robertson and Henry Hix were a constant threat to the Lincoln goal; Witham D Captain, Henry Neve, had a strong game and Gaby Forbes-Rogers and Henry McQuitty, in defence, ensured that Max Arlott in goal, had a quiet game.

The U9A&B football teams also travelled to St Mary’s and both won 3-1. Tim Judge, Charlie Edwards and Barney Fox scored for the U9As and George Redmayne, George Darley and Alex Atkin scored for the U9Bs. Well done to Alex, who came up from year 3 to join the squad, for a super game.
